Education

We don’t offer fish to people, instead we teach people to fish. We sponsor orphans, child soldiers and vulnerable children at school by paying the tuition fees and teaching them social skills and biblical truths that allow them to escape armed groups, break the chains of poverty, serve God and cultivate the nonviolent culture by teaching their peers from their communities.

Counseling

Hope Building Center strives to lead the war survivor children, youth and women toward the forgiveness and acceptation of the traumatic events faced in their communities. This leads to their resilience, confidence building and conflict resolution among their communities. We do this through art therapy, games, sports, music therapy, group counseling and individual counseling sessions.

Child care

Our children are given food, clothes, school support and social assistance in our home and the host families. In order to assist more other kids, we are building a big orphanage in order to provide secured shelter to the kids who need special care. In providing child care, we make sure all the orphan children as well as vulnerable children under our care are loved and get all they need as any child with responsible and loving parents. We assist children of all ages, including babies.

Medical care

All our beneficiaries, both those who stay in our orphanage and the ones who live in host families are supported in case they are sick. We have selected some hospitals with high standard of treating various sicknesses, including laboratory fees, surgeries and special health problems.

Family strengthening program

The deterioration of our economy caused by wars, pandemics, such as Ebola and corona virus as well as successive bad leadership of our country has left many families in extreme poverty who end up their life on streets or just become beggars. Our organization helps such poor families, especially those living in our center’s neighborhoods and the host families to be economically sustainable through trainings in entrepreneurship followed by financial assistance for small income generating projects, such as: breeding, faming and sale businesses.

Discipleship

Our organization, being a Christian-based organization, focuses on telling children about Jesus Christ, training them on serving God from their childhood, and making disciples among them. We organize crusades and church visits with the children’s choir called Light of Christ. We believe that if the children are taught God’s word and shown good ways of life from the early age, they will grow spiritually and continue the Great Commission (Proverb 22:6).

Pastoral care

We train pastors and God’s servants and give them stipend money to help in child care, conflict resolution and make their churches grow.

Housing

We provide children with a loving home for everyone. We do this by staying with some kids in our orphanage (depending on our available means) and we seek good model families (Christians) from the community who become host families for those children without any parents to take care of them as our means are not enough to host as many orphans as possible in our orphanage. In case a family doesn’t have a house, we do our best to build houses or pay renting for the widows and we assist them to feed their children and respond to their needs.

Youth capacity building & socialization

The orphans being assisted in our orphanage do not stay there forever. We equip children with social skills and entrepreneurship. This helps them to become partially self sustainable and capable to stay in the community while socializing with the community and continuing their college or professional studies. As such, we have them choose their housemates outside of the orphanage and we assist them with the college fees and stipend money which allow them to survive.
