Building hope, making leaders for peace,

Breaking the chains of poverty

About us

Hope Building Center is a faith-based organization which exists to build hope for the children and widows survivors of war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Our vision

A hopeful life for every war-affected Child and widow in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Our mission

Developing spiritual and social advancement of orphans, child soldiers, vulnerable children and widows through the Gospel and Deeds in Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Our history

Hope Building Center started early in 2015. Our journey as an organization started when Pastor Jean Nshimiyimana Ntibagerinda was working at the United Nations Mission in his country of Democratic Republic of the Congo. He felt the call together with his wife Emma Uwizeyimana Izabiriza due to their own hardship childhood experience in the community torn by occurring wars and violence. Being part of the local church leadership in 2017, they wanted to fulfill God’s requirement of the pure and genuine church as described in James 1: 27. Their passion was to see war victim children going to school and serving God from their young age rather than holding guns, looting, raping, taking drugs, begging on streets or killing innocent people.

Pastor Jean started with sponsoring at school 3 kids in 2015. The number of sponsored kids increased each year and the idea of starting an organization aroused. The first meeting of Hope Building Center took place in 2017 in the residence of Pastor Jean and the board of directors was formed. Local churches and communities have been benefiting a lot from HOBC visits and mission outreach, HOBC children are sponsored at school and receiving trauma healing trainings and vulnerable widows are being trained on small income generating projects and funded. Since then, HOBC has become a home for so many Kids and widows who need support. In order to respond to some of the needs of the kids, HOBC initiated an orphanage in 2018 and the building activity is in its final phase. The organization has gone on registration process and the legal documents from the Government were granted in 2021. Based on the need on ground, HOBC has been in search for potential local and international partners to assist the project and some individual partners are joining this God-given call of building hope to both war rescued children and widows of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but the need is still enormous.

As such, we would like to ask you to assist this cause so that orphans and other vulnerable kids can access food, school and other needs under HOBC care.
